Christmas Blogtacular Day Five

       Now that school is quickly coming  to a close for winter break, I've wondered what school would be like in the Hunger Games, and if they got off for Christmas. 

      I think that they would not get a break for Christmas, from what I remember, Katniss never discusses any major holidays celebrated. However, I still feel like writing about school in the Hunger Games. In nearly all of the districts, school seems to be treated normally, if anything even more boring and less educational than our current system.  Tomorrow, or possibly day seven I will be writing from two different points of views in short stories. If you'd like you can write a prompt and put it on our community.

Prompts:

1.  Write from the point of view of a teenager in the Capitol going to school.

2. Write from the point of view of a career at training school.

Christmas Blogtacular Day Four

Sorry these are late! I asked Jonah to blog, but alas, he did not. Also we had a false alarm about the flu coming back, so that was um, scary to say the least. We've had a major bug going around my school. (My largest class was fifteen kids out of like 25) So today we are going to do top five favorite quotes from Catching Fire. Let's begin!

1. You know, you could live a thousand lifetimes and not deserve him
   
2. At some point, you have to stop running and turn around and face whoever wants you dead.The hard thing is finding the courage to do it. 
   
3. Aim higher in case you fall short.
   
4. I guess this is a bad time to mention I hung a dummy and painted Seneca Crane's name on it..
   
5. So that's who Finnick loves, I think. Not his string of fancy lovers in the Capitol. But a poor, mad girl back home.

Christmas Blogtacular Day Three

Today's blogtacular blog is going to be favorite quotes from Mockingjay. (Catching Fire and Hunger Games in the next few days) This was going to be day three in the countdown to Mockingjay, so why not make it up now? BTW: These are in no particular order.

Christmas Blogtacular Day One

       Okay, minor detail before we begin: I may have forgotten to tell Jonah about the 12 day countdown. And also the fact that today is the beginning of it. So depending on where you live, this may be on the 11th day not 12th until Christmas. 

      Anyways, today marks 12 days until Christmas, and I promised you a blogtacular countdown where I don't get the flu and am unable to post. So here it is! Today's blog post is about a topic that's a tiny bit dated, but I wanted to post about it all the same. Today's post is about The Hanging Tree song.
      Now, The Hanging Tree song in the Mockingjay movie was the best ever. I was so emotional, and each time I listen to the song it moves me and makes me feel empowered. Here's the song if you haven't heard it:

      Just... fantastic isn't it? Now, if I were to tell you that this had a radio edit, what would you expect? Let me tell you what I expected and see if our expectations meet: The same song, maybe a little remixed, with some piano or drum in the background. This, however is what I did not expect:

       It starts off with the track sped up a bit. Okay, you're thinking, it's not bad. WAIT WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW THIS IS NOT THE HANGING TREE! This sounds like a song you would hear at a club or a cheesy pop song that is way over played. NO. I don't want this as a song. NO.  I'm actually a little bit impressed by the way the ending is cut, but I still don't like this as a song.

      I think you've kind of got my opinion by now: this song ruins the actual song. Now, I actually have found that some people think it's better, so if that's your opinion, then, I guess I'll have to live with it; but here's why I feel this way:

       I think The Hanging Tree is not popular because it is catchy. Yes, that may factor into its popularity a little bit, but mostly I think The Hanging Tree is popular because it is empowering. It inspires people to take down the capitol and fight for their opinions. I mean in the book it's a song Katniss' father used to sing before she realized it's a song about a dead man asking his lover to join him, for goodness sake! To quote Hypable:

 This song is not popular because people are dying to get their groove on to it at Club Catniss. It’s not intended for when you’re in the car on the way to work, either.

 This song is intended to inspire and empower, if you want it to mean anything outside of the movie. Do you agree that the remake it worse, or do you think the remake makes it ten times better? Tell us in the comments!

       I'm going to be brutally honest here; this blog sucks. I know it, you know it. When I first started the blog I had more time to think of creative ideas, and way less news that I should be sharing. In fact, in my stats, all of my most popular posts are from 2012. Let's be honest, when a fifth grader starts a blog, they can keep up because they have little homework, no relationships, and very simple schedules. Well, when that fifth grader, a few years later as a seventh grader tries to keep up with that blog along with the help of her "friend-ish" person, there will be conflicts. For example, being in pre-algebra and having four hours of homework each night, or having a girlfriend. Jonah and I are very busy. Jonah has another blog, and his YouTube reputation to upkeep, and I have four hours of homework each night, along with two other blogs, a writing career, and social media to keep up with, With all that we both have, being able to post and livestream is incredibly hard. Especially when Jonah doesn't have a microphone or webcam yet.

Countdown to Mockingjay

Mockingjay is fast approaching with almost 9 days until the movie, Jonah and I decided to do an extra special countdown from day 5 down. Here what I have scheduled:

Oh. My. Gosh. I just looked at how many people have read this blog, and it is over 9,000!!!! Even now as I write this post I can see that there are 10 people on the blog at the moment! I've felt like doing this for a while, but now I guess I kind of have a reason. May I present you with....the ultimate history of The Hunger Games Rule blog.


In 2012 I started The Hunger Games Rule (originally entitled The Hunger Games Rules!) after finishing The Hunger Games and falling in love. After creating the blog I made pages for all of the original tributes, which were deleted after I finished Catching Fire and realized there was another Hunger Games book.  Back then I had a monthly contest with HG points. (which I don't remember ever using or anybody participating in aside from a few of my friends. I did a lot of posts with just pictures in 2012 and also song parodies. (which I still do) Towards the end of 2012 I started having a few people work on my blog. Two people (both friends from my school) stepped up and joined the blog. The only one that is still here today is Jonah. In 2013 I feel like the blog grew a lot.  Jonah began his Minecraft Hunger Games, Jonah and I started livestreaming, and my writing style became a bit more like it is now. And then we come to 2014. In 2014 we began our Social Medias. (Which also started the current stat war. #jonahhasnostats) Finally, in 2014 our blog reader EXPANDED big time. So thanks for helping with that by reading this! Remember that at the bottom of the blog you can follow and contact us! On the side bar you can check out all the bloggers personal pages on this blog, use the contact page to email one of us, look at some pics (most of which are from 2012) or apply to become a blogger on this blog.

So I'm sure you've all seen all of the Mockingjay teasers and trailers. In this challenge all you photoshop people can use your skills and use gif / images from the MOCKINGJAY (not Catching Fire or Hunger Games) trailer and add a quote from the Mockingjay book. To submit your project go to The Hunger Games Fans Only! page on Google+ and add your submission in the Contest tab. Rewards for completing this challenge will be a follow on Google+ and a mention in a post. Mockingjay Part One: Scheduled Release Date Countdown!

So, every once-in-a-while I will post how many days are left until the scheduled release date of Mockingjay part 1! So... currently there are 255 days left! The app I am using is called Catching Fire Countdown (I also used it for Catching Fire) and is available on the Kindle Fire app-store. I don't know if it is available for apple though.
